Thousands of Flood-Damaged Vehicles Left from Florida Hurricanes
Source: Engine Builder
Flood damaged cars, trucks and SUVs from hurricanes Milton and Helene are now in auction lots in Florida. An estimated 17,000+ vehicles are reported to be sitting in lots in the sunshine state as a result of the back-to-back hurricanes that hit the southeastern United States in late-September and early-October.
As seen in a YouTube video shared by brothers Ivan and Mike Niko, there are a ton of vehicles left with water damage of various severity. Mike believes that there’s more than 17,000 salvage vehicles sitting in the Florida auction lots, and this number only represents the cars that have been retrieved and (somewhat) recovered. Purchasing a flood car could seem like a steal of a deal at first, but fixing any car with flood damage is no easy task and could easily turn into a nightmare.
An impressive selection of collector cars, including several supercars are found in the lots, including Audi R8s, Bentleys, BMWs, Corvettes, Ferraris, Mercedes, Porsches, and more. According to a recent report, insurance claims for damage from hurricanes Helene and Milton in Florida now total $4.775 billion.
